Sax's only brother, from whom he was inseparable. Murray & Sax set up together in the private eye business way back when. He was murdered at Momma Belle's Motel in 1995, during an investigation of the financial practices of Mayor Marlin. It was claimed that the Mayor was involved in drugs, embezzlement, and misappropriation of city funds.
Murray was setting up a bug, in room in the motel where they had been told the Mayor would be making some 'transactions'. This, however, was a set-up, and Murray was hacked to death by two unknown assailants. Sax, who was busy making out with the receptionist at the time, discovered the body, and has never come to terms with knowing that he may have been able to help his brother if he'd been paying attention. The Mayor was found dead soon after; the case was closed, and the identities of Murray's killers were never discovered. As far as Sax is concerned, the case is still open.
Murray's widow and son left the Island shortly after these events, and Sax has never heard from them since.
